Commonly used terms in Structure Manager
Relative Occurrence – A hierarchical structure relationship between the immediate parent assembly and its child component.
Absolute Occurrence –A structure relationship between parent assembly and its child component one or more level below in the structure. Absolute occurrence takes the precedence over relative occurrence. Relative occurrence data can be overridden by absolute occurrence data .
Node– It is a single unique point in the structure. Node is also called bomline.
Line–A line represents single occurrence in the product structure. Clicking on line in the structure associates all the attributes of occurrence and the item.
Component- A node or bomline in the structure. In the single level parent –child hierarchy, child is the component. While adding component, we are adding the occurrence in the structure.
So basically, occurrence, line, component, node do the same representation.
Occurrence Note- It is a text data associated with the occurrence.
Assembly-It is in contrast to multi-level product structure. It is just single level structure. There is no hierarchy. Information of assembly data is stored in BOM view revision.
Piece part- Piece part is just a part with no structure. Hence no associated BOM view revision. This is also known as a detail part.
BOM View Revision– A workspace object that stores data of single level assembly structure of an item revision.
View type- This is an attribute on BOM view revision that denotes the purpose of creating the structure. For example, whether the structure was created for design or manufacture.
Find Number-It is a number to identify a single occurrence or group of occurrences in the structure. It is to be noted that find number is not a unique number. Changing find number can re-order bomlines in the structure.
Direct Model Dataset-This is a dataset containing a JT (visualization) file.
