Cloning Structure:

Entire product structure or selected subassembly can be cloned .Deep Copy Rules are used in clone operation to copy datasets and attachments .Any copied element of structure can be edited by cloning action owner without changing the original structure. If there is no access right to a substructure of original structure, it is referenced in cloned structure.

Cloning Action does not copy:

1. Access rights and ACL rules on structure line
2. Occurrence Effectivity
3. Closure Rules
4. Multi-Site Collaboration permissions

Structure can be cloned in two ways:

• Duplicate functionality(From Existing Structure)

Select a structure line in opened structure and click on File –>Duplicate

Everything below the selected line will be copied in the new structure.

In the Duplicate Dialog, selecting or clearing the checkboxes adjacent to structure line, decides if the line has to be copied or referenced.

Structure can be displayed in Duplicate Dialog based on selecting any of the checkboxes:

• • Drawing from All revision– All item revisions with drawing related to structure are shown.
  • Required Dependencies-Only Item Revisions required to open structure in CAD tool is shown.
  • All Dependencies-All related item revisions are shown.
  • Part Families Master-Part Families Master defined in classification are shown.
  • Part Families Member-Part Families Member defined in classification are shown.
  • Naming Checkbox-Updates the display of Structure

Action after clone

• Rename CAD Files: CAD integration renames CAD files when cloned structure opened in CAD tool. Datasets and their named references are copied

Clicking on Ok will duplicate structure .Cloned structure is pasted in newstuff folder and topline is available in clipboard .Any element which could not be cloned are referenced in the new structure.

• Item from Template functionality(From Templates)

A generic structure is created explicitly to use it as a template. To use this functionality, Product.Template preferences should be defined based on which related objects in template are mapped (cloned, referenced or ignored) in new structure.

Click on File New Item from Template. In the dialog, to create new structure, select template by entering template id or browsing template in Choose Template tab . Cloning rule can be selected in Configuration tab.

Clicking on Ok will clone the structure that needs to be searched in Teamcenter as it is not loaded in window.
