Searching Component By Property in Structure
Find Component(s) in display
Specific components can be searched in an open structure, based on single or combination of properties .This search is useful when user is not much familiar with structure and wants to get to a particular component in the structure. Find component(s) in display at the lower left of the Structure Manager opens Find in Display dialog box .Any combination of available properties criteria can be entered here, separated by operator (AND, OR etc.) to search for a particular component(s).Search always starts from topline irrespective of selection .So, if search is required on a subassembly, it must be opened in a separate window ,to search for the component.
Guided Component Search
This is another way to search for components in structure and is very fast .This is because it searches from list of only those classified workspace objects that fits (based on criteria) in the selected component initiating the search from .To use this search, it has to be configured in Classification Admin application .We will talk about this search in detail at some later stage.
Communicating with owning user
In a collaborative environment where several users own a component in a design, it may become necessary to communicate with a user who owns a particular component or assembly .If Microsoft Office Communicator integration is installed on system, component can be right clicked to Send an Instant Message to owning user of component.
